LAPTA
Lapta is a picturesque town 9 miles west of Girne set on several mountain terraces overlooking the sea. It is well signposted from the main coast road.
To explore the maze of roads follow signs up to the Bespinar Restaurant at the top and wind your way down by other routes. Lapta is famous for its pure fresh water making for very fertile Orange and Lemon Groves.

ESCAPE BEACH
Escape Beach is easy to find 5 miles from Girne by the huge Monument on the road above this sandy bay. Lovely for children, and you can swim out to the small island that guards the bay.
Facilities of sun beds, showers, cafe and a large car park are all here. This is the home of the Amphora Scuba Diving Centre. The excellent Altinkaya & Five Mile Restaurants are at one end.

ALSANCAK
Alsancak is a traditional village nestling in the mountain foothills about 6 miles from Girne.The village is centred around a large church and has a bar restaurant and a couple of mini markets.
It is well situated being near beaches and the many restaurants in the area which is popular for holiday accommodation.

KARAMAN / KARMI
Karaman is probably the prettiest village in north cyprus. It is 4 miles from Girne, 1,000 ft above sea level below the peaks of the Besparmak mountains with breathtaking views & sunsets.
Wander through narrow streets, between the beautifully kept houses and enjoy the flowers spilling over from gardens and terraces. There are restaurants, a pub and a village shop.

GIRNE / KYRENIA
This horshoe harbour with its castle backdrop is often described as the most picturesque in the med. The carob warehouses converted into bars and restaurants spill out to the waters edge by the moored boats and create a superb ambience, especially at night Much to explore in this busy town including the Shipwreck Museum in the castle, narrow streets & small shops.

ZEYTINLIK
Zeytinlik is close to Girne and yet set in a rural and tranquil location surrounded by olive groves and beneath the spectacular St Hilarion Castle.
The village has several good restaurants close by and a couple of shops. A supermarket is also nearby.

ST HILARION CASTLE
Named after hermit monk St Hilarion, this picturesque castle was first built as a watch tower along with Buffavento and Kantara to give warning of Arab pirates attacking Cyprus and the Anatolia coast from the 7th to the 10th centuries.
Worth a visit for the spectacular views alone but be careful
on the rough paths and steps.

KARSIYAKA
Karsiyaka is about a half hour drive west of Kyrenia and has fantastic views of the highest part of the Besparmak mountains. The village has a few shops and nice fish restaurants near the waters edge.
There is a sandy bay five minutes drive away and many more beaches east towards Kyrenia.

EDREMIT
This lovely village is halfway up the hill to the picturesque village of Karmi and has a restaurant and a few small shops including the famous basket shop shown left.
Also here is the popular Hideaway Club with its pool, bars and restaurant open to everybody.
Karaoglanoglu on the main coast strip is a mile down the hill with supermarkets and restaurants.

HISARKOY
Hisarkoy is a small rural village with lovely country and mountain views. Travel west from Kyrenia for about 15 miles past Lapta and then inland and up past the Guzelyurt turn, Hisarkoy is signed to the left.
If you want peace and quiet away from it all, this could be the perfect place for you.
