FAMAGUSTA / GAZIMAGUSA

The old walled town contains a fascinating mixture of architecture, monuments and churches.
Tour the walls, visit the Canbulat and Othellos Towers, the Venetian Palace and St Nicholas Cathedral.
To the south you can get glimpses over the fences around Varosha of the ghostly shells of the hotels evacuated in 1974.

ISKELE

Iskele is a small rural town, population about 3,000, and has a modern shopping area on the outskirts.
In its pretty centre you will find the tiny Chapel of St James. Sadly it is kept locked now to protect the 15th century interior and the porcelain plates set in its vaulted ceiling.

SALAMIS

Ancient Salamis was the first city of Cyprus in classical Greek times and the site is fascinating to visit. There is a modest entry fee and then you can wander around with few restrictions and wonder at the impressive remains.
There is a seaside restaurant right outside the entrance but take hats for shade, comfortable shoes and water for your time inside the site.

BOGAZ

Bogaz is a small village about 20 minutes up the coast from Famagusta with several bars and restaurants and a small harbour where you can watch the fishing catch come in.
The beaches along this part of the coast are some of the best on the island so expect more development in this area.
