Kyrenia Harbour - most picturesque in the Mediteranean

GIRNE / KYRENIA

This horshoe harbour with its castle backdrop is often described as the most picturesque in the med. The carob warehouses converted into bars and restaurants spill out to the waters edge by the moored boats and create a superb ambience, especially at night    Much to explore in this busy town including the Shipwreck Museum in the castle, narrow streets & small shops.

BELLAPAIS

   This is a historic village with wonderful views and is where Lawrence Durell wrote 'Bitter Lemons of Cyprus' in 1957. His old house is marked and you can enjoy a drink under the Tree of Idleness in the village centre opposite the Abbey.
    The Abbey dominates the area and you can visit the ruins and enjoy the grounds.It is the finest Gothic building in Cyprus.

OZANKOY

   Ozankoy makes a good base being conveniently only a couple of miles east of Girne in the mountain foothills with small shops and some restaurants close by.
   It has lovely walks through ancient olive groves in all directions but particularly up towards Bellapais and its Abbey.

CATALKOY

   Catalkoy is a pretty and friendly village with a few shops and restaurants serving local food.
   It is in a good location for a holiday stay being only a few minutes drive from
several beaches, including the Acapulco resort, and also from the main town of Girne with all its restaurants and picturesque harbour

ESENTEPE

   Esentepe is a lovely hilltop village about 15 miles east of Girne with marvellous views up and down the coast and on a clear day across to the coast of Turkey. There are nice walks in the forests on the mountains above and the Korineum Golf Club is only a ten minutes drive away.
   This is a friendly place with a few shops, a small supermarket, internet cafe and several restaurants.

BUFFAVENTO CASTLE 

  If you love castles, heights and adventures then you must visit this, the highest of the three Crusader Castles.It's the most difficult to reach and not much of it remains but the setting is just breathtaking. There is no caretaker any more so in theory you can visit anytime but check locally before you set off in case the military are restricting visiting for any reason.

ALAGADI BEACH

    Alagadi Beach or Turtle Beach is one of the areas where the endangered Green and Loggerhead Turtles come to lay their eggs. Areas of sand to avoid disturbing them are clearly marked.
   There is a beach bar and cafe and a big expanse of sand best enjoyed if you take your own shade and something to sit on.

KORINEUM GOLF & COUNTRYCLUB

   The Korineum Club in Esentepe is now open and it is fantastic. The 6,232 metre 18 Hole Course is designed for the enjoyment of all handicap levels. The sea and mountain views from the course are truly stunning.
   There are also 3 Academy Holes and a Driving Range and a great Clubhouse with superb Restaurants and Bars. Ask us about special deals.

ACAPULCO BEACH

   The Acapulco Beach Resort is located on a lovely beach with all the amenities you would expect including bars and restaurants, swimming pool with aqua park and of course sun loungers and shade.
   You have to pay to enter the resort which can be quite expensive so best to make a day of it.

LARA BEACH

   Lara Beach has sand one side and slabs of smooth sandstone the other which have formed natural rock pools. It's a bit shingly near the shoreline but great for swimming once you are in.
   There is a beach bar and cafe and they will organises sun beds for a small charge. Also there is a big shade canopy set up on the beach which is a great place to camp for the day.
